A bold visual identity and motion system for a premier sports media show.
Context
The “JaVale McGee Show” project was born out of a need to translate the high-octane energy of an NBA star into a digital-first media brand. The goal wasn’t just to create static logos, but to develop an entire living visual ecosystem. By bridging the gap between sports culture and contemporary digital media design, this project demonstrates how brand strategy, motion graphics, and technical systems come together to build a highly scalable entertainment brand ready for multi-platform distribution.

Overview
The engagement was designed to build a complete, broadcast-ready brand system for NBA star JaVale McGee’s new media venture. The identity leaned into a bold, high-contrast aesthetic—reflecting his dynamic personality and athletic excellence—while ensuring every asset was optimized for rapid digital consumption.
Challenge
The challenge was to deliver a brand system that could handle the frantic pace of episodic sports content. It needed to support a system: a cohesive identity with a distinctive logo mark, premium type direction, and an animated intro sequence that felt highly polished yet completely flexible. The production workflow itself had to remain simple enough for editing teams to rapidly customize on a weekly basis without losing brand integrity.
Solution
The project proved how thoughtful design engineering can elevate a sports media brand without creating production bottlenecks. Each phase focused on marrying premium creative direction with operational efficiency.
Brand strategy & identity: Conceptualized a master logo merging modern athletic typography with dynamic graphical elements symbolizing motion and impact. Developed a high-contrast palette to ensure instant legibility across tight social feeds.
Animated intro sequence: Designed and animated a rhythmic 45-second title sequence in After Effects. The animation utilized bold reveals, fast-paced cuts, and basketball motifs to capture the energetic essence of the host.
Scalable production system: Built an organized, layered After Effects template toolkit. This automated system allowed the post-production team to seamlessly swap out guest names, episode numbers, and background footage in minutes.
Results
The finalized system for the “JaVale McGee Show” showcases how high-level motion design can become the foundation for a scalable media brand. The complete identity system balances premium, broadcast-ready aesthetics with real-world utility—proving that a great visual identity is both an artistic statement and a seamless workflow.
This project highlights an ability to deliver comprehensive, future-ready media packaging that merges athletic culture with strict technical execution.
